Application development is an activity that is best left to the professionals who have both the knowledge and the tools to build from the ground up all sorts of programs. There are many software solutions dedicated to this activity and one of the most complete is Microsoft Expression Blend.
Even if it is tailored mainly for developers and programmers, the interface is quite friendly and those who are interested in learning how to use it should have no problems, especially since there is enough documentation to get them started.
The neatly organized GUI supports multiple tabs and enables the user to work on several projects at once, if necessary. The commands and functions are easily accessible and neatly tucked inside expanding menus and sub-menus that are one click away, inside the left side toolbar of Microsoft Expression Blend.
Creating a project starts with selecting the type of task you would like to carry out and there are several options at your disposal. Among them are authoring Silverlight applications and their corresponding websites, WPF apps or SketchFlow applications for either Silverlight or WPF.
There are loads of controls, effects, behaviors or shapes you can work with, as well as a lot of object management commands. Each element you add into the project you are developing can be customized in detail and you can see how all of them are linked in the generous main workspace offered by Microsoft Expression Blend.
There are also styles and templates you can try, not to mention the handy set of tools placed into the corresponding menu. Thus, you can easily make controls, brush resources and annotations, for example.
To sum things up, Microsoft Expression Blend is definitely a software for experienced users, it comes with an impressive array of features that should accommodate the needs of every developer.

Windows Server 2003 can store a large number of users in Active Directory and administer all their resources and applications, opening up the possibilities for effective collaboration. Its simplicity and ease of use make this platform suitable for small organisations as well as large ones. In this tutorial, we look at how to create a Windows Server 2003 network infrastructure using the domain controller.
Internet Explorer 7 or later
Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5
Windows Server 2003 with Windows Authentication enabled on IIS (Internet Information Services)
Installing Exchange Server 2003
Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 and IIS (Internet Information Services) are prerequisites for installing Exchange Server 2003.
Step 2 – Setting up a Home Domain
While it is possible to create a network without an Active Directory, it is not recommended as it makes administration more complicated. In a large network, you will likely end up with several domains that might need separate networks of Active Directory nodes to coordinate their user accounts. A domain offers a convenient solution as it makes administration much simpler.
By default, the Windows Server 2003 Home Edition domain controller creates a local account known as Administrator on the local computer that is used to administer all of the resources on the computer. If you are asked about creating a new domain account during the installation process, choose the appropriate name and password, note this account down and then click Next to install Exchange Server.
Step 3 – Creating Exchange Server 2003 Domains
On the new domain, navigate to System | Active Directory Sites and Services and create a new site by clicking New Site, entering a name for the site and selecting the appropriate server as the target location.
Create a new domain by clicking New Zone in Active Directory Users and Computers and enter a name for the domain, enter the appropriate servername and click Next.
Step 4 – Adding Exchange Server 2003 Domain Controller
Click New to add a new Active Directory Domain Controller in Active Directory Users and Computers, enter the name of the ADDC in the dialog, enter the appropriate password, choose the domain type and click Next.
Click New to add a new domain in the DNS Server dialog, enter a name for the domain and enter the appropriate servername as the DNS domain name, under Servers click Advanced Features and check the box to

Microsoft Expression Synthesizer, also known as the Synthesizer is a media creation application released on the Microsoft Expression brand of tools. This application was to serve as both a vocal synthesizer as well as a sequencer. The feature set of Expression Synthesizer was considerably larger than the competing Vocaloid application.
Features [ edit ]
While the Vocaloid’s feature list is generally more limited than the Expression Synthesizer’s, it does include features such as an expansion method and a “learning synthesizer” (inspired by another technology developed by Microsoft), which can be used to learn the voice of any vocal singing software under development. The Synthesizer also had a unique feature known as “exposure”, which makes the model noise the user created lower in pitch until the user is more familiar with the style, at which time the noise changes.
The application’s GUI closely mimicked the look and feel of Microsoft’s dominant Windows application. The interface was also completely redesigned after Expression Studio and reflected the direction of the WPF platform.
Supported Operating Systems [ edit ]
Support for both Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows was available.
Planned development of a next-generation version was first announced in 2015, to be released in fall of 2015. On August 22, 2015, Microsoft announced that the next version, called Expression Studio V7, would be released in September. In September 2015, Microsoft announced that they were cutting the project from the Visual Studio 2015 update to Expression Studio. The next version of Expression Studio is now called Expression Blend.
The original version of Expression Studio was based on the.NET Framework and Microsoft Silverlight. This was also used in the next generation version.
