Analyzing drawings and data from CAD files can be done for a variety of purposes, such as:
to meet the needs of the design and manufacturing industries, to support specific goals, such as rapid response to customers and regulatory agencies
to support specific goals, such as improving safety and quality of products
to support specific goals, such as training and education
to address specific needs, such as recovering from a catastrophic event and overcoming lost data
to support efficient use of CAD resources
CAD analytics software usually combines information retrieval, data analysis and presentation. Examples of data analysis and presentation include:
taking the CAD drawings and data, which have been imported, saved and grouped into classes, and identifying which group should receive attention
identifying critical paths for a product or process
creating Gantt charts for project schedules, so that those involved can understand current and future status
providing data tables, so that groups can understand where their products fit into the overall plan for a product
enabling users to perform searches and make selections of specific data from a large amount of data
enabling the selection of information for presentation to people in different roles in a group
displaying data on a Web page or on a dashboard
